Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work at all. Others remember a preference or help count visitors. This page explains which ones Age With Flavor uses and how to turn them off.
What this site uses
Cookies that are needed to run the site
WordPress, the software this site is built on, sets a small number of cookies. If you leave a comment, it can store your name, email, and website so you do not have to retype them next time. If you log in, which almost no visitor does, it stores a session so you stay logged in. Our host and security tools may also set a cookie to keep the site online and block abuse.
Email signup
The newsletter signup runs through AWeber. When you subscribe, AWeber may set a cookie to remember that you already signed up so you are not asked again on every page. AWeber publishes its own privacy policy covering what it collects.
Spam filtering
Comments are checked by Akismet, which looks at comment data to decide whether something is spam. This is what keeps the comments readable.
Amazon affiliate links
Some links on this site go to Amazon, and I earn a commission on qualifying purchases. Clicking one of those links takes you to Amazon, and Amazon sets its own cookie there to track that the visit came from here. That cookie belongs to Amazon, not to this site, and it is governed by Amazon’s privacy notice. Nothing is set on your browser by this site until you click.
Analytics
If and when analytics is switched on, it will be used to count page views and see which articles people actually read. That involves a cookie or similar identifier set by the analytics provider. This page will be updated to name the provider at that point. No analytics cookie is in use before then.
What this site does not do
There are no advertising networks here, no retargeting pixels selling your attention to other companies, and no cookies used to build an advertising profile of you. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
How to control cookies
Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block future ones. Look under settings for privacy, cookies, or site data in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge. Blocking everything will break the comment form and the email signup, but the articles and recipes will still read normally.
You can also browse in a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when you close it.
Changes to this page
This policy will be updated when the tools on the site change. The date at the top tells you when it last did.
